Caring for creatures great and small

Deep in the “employees only” section of the Toledo Zoo’s reptile house, a dozen children ages 11 to 14 huddle together in a room lined with cages holding spitting cobras and Sri Lankan pit vipers — cargo that in another context might be considered a cache of deadly weapons.
