Arctic temperatures blanket Lake Erie in early ice

CATAWBA ISLAND, Ohio — One month ago the temperature outside was 58 degrees. Two weeks later, the thermometer hit 49 degrees and there was nothing but open water on Lake Erie, from here to the Canadian shoreline.
