Tampa council holds Irma-delayed public hearing on 2018 budget at 6 p.m.

The City Council is scheduled to hold a storm-delayed public hearing on the 2018 city budget and proposed property tax rate tonight at 6 p.m. The question will be whether the council scales back Mayor Bob Buckhorn's proposed tax increase, and, if so, by how much. Buckhorn's $974.2 million budget for next year is based on raising the city's property tax rate from $5.73 to $6.63 in city taxes for every $1,000 of taxable property value.
