Domestic abuse victims are still being left to fend for themselves in Louisiana

We traveled to New York City in early November where, as individuals featured in an award-winning documentary, "Five Awake," we appeared on a national talk show that wanted to acknowledge the five women from Louisiana who worked together to pass some of the strongest domestic laws in the nation. A few days before we left for New York, news sources reported that a Hammond woman had been shot to death by her ex-husband.
