Trial begins as Seattle-area widow and Virginia Mason sue over deadly superbug outbreak

Theresa Bigler’s case is the first to go to trial in the U.S. after deadly superbug outbreaks across the country were linked to contaminated medical scopes. She and Virginia Mason Medical Center are suing Olympus Corp., claiming a scope contributed to the death of Bigler’s husband.
