Smoking credit-card reader forces Seattle-bound flight to land in N.Y.

Alaska Airlines Flight 17 from Newark, N.J., to Seattle was diverted to Buffalo, N.Y., after a credit-card reader malfunctioned, according to an airline spokeswoman. No one was hurt, and passengers will continue to Seattle later today.
