Sheriff’s deputy arrested after barricading himself in Capitol Hill apartment for 13 hours

The suspect is a King County sheriff's deputy who has been on paid administrative leave since March, pending an evaluation of his  fitness for duty. Such investigations are done if there is "reasonable suspicion" that a member of the department is psychologically or physically unfit to perform his or her duties, according to a manual governing the sheriff's department.
