Sheriff: Suspect in deputy's slaying committed suicide

The burglary suspect found dead at the scene of Pierce County Deputy Daniel McCarthy's slaying shot himself in the head during the gunfire exchange that ultimately killed the deputy, the Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday afternoon.
