Shell pulls plug on Arctic oil drilling after ‘disappointing’ results

Shell Oil is pulling out of the Arctic  after an investment of nearly $7 billion in oil exploration, citing the  “disappointing” results from an exploratory well drilled this summer in the Chukchi Sea off the northwest coast of Alaska. “Shell has found indications of oil and gas in the Burger J well but these are not sufficient to warrant further exploration,” the oil giant said in a statement.
