San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, who grew up in Seattle, dies at 65

"Mayor Ed Lee has a long history of breaking barriers," Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a statement. Lee spent part of his childhood in public housing. He graduated from Franklin High School, where he had been class president, before becoming the first in his family to attend college. He continued on to law school and then into public service.
