Robert Terry, first black man to teach in Seattle public schools, dies at 91

Robert Terry, the first African-American man to teach public school in Seattle, died from kidney disease in his Seattle home on Sept. 1 at the age of 91. Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on Sept. 29, 1926, he spent his early life in a boxcar at a segregated logging camp before he began school in La Grande, Ore.
