Mary Tyler Moore, Dead at 80

Mary Tyler Moore, the brilliant TV and film actor, comedian, producer, and impresario, died today at the age of 80, following a long battle with diabetes. She was Laura Petrie, Mary Richards, Beth Jarrett, and Pearl Coplin, but above all she was always irreducibly Mary Tyler Moore—part modernist, part classicist, and all trouper. Some of us will love her until the day we join her.
