Los Angeles fire started in homeless camp, officials say

Homeless people had been living in the neighborhood — Bel-Air, in northwest Los Angeles — making their encampment in an underpass of Interstate 405 for several years, said a Fire Department spokesman. The blaze, known as the Skirball Fire, was one of several that have ravaged Southern California in recent days.
