'First detection of an atmosphere' on Earth-like planet announced

Astronomers have published research showing that an atmosphere exists around the exoplanet GJ 1132b, which is Earth-like in size (at 1.4 times the mass of Earth) and orbits a very low-mass star a mere 39 light years from Earth.
