Despite the scourge of smoky summers, Washington underfunds wildfire-control efforts

Washington has 2.7 million acres of forests susceptible to wildfires. A 20-year plan to restore health to 1.25 million of those acres isn't getting the money it needs, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
