The Watergate scandal, which brought down President Nixon, was a character test, particularly for Washington's Republican politicians.  It displayed some people at their best. Such figures as Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Dave Reichert, R-Wash., face a similar testing time with Donald Trump.
