Connelly: Gun safety -- the Legislature's 'appalling,' 'shocking' failure

The Washington Legislature did much this year.  But it failed on firearms safety, unable even to require purchasers of military-style semi-automatic assault weapons to be at least 21 and undergo a background check. As Sen. Kevin Ranker, D-Orcas, put it, "It isn't just disturbing, it is appalling." What now?
