Charges: Unprovoked machete attack left man critically wounded

When a 39-year-old man intervened in a confrontation between his girlfriend and a pair of alleged vandals, the vandals turned against him with a belt and machete, seemingly intent on "leaving (him) a corpse," police reports say.
