The 10-year, $100 million Moderate Alcohol and Cardiovascular Health trial started to enroll participants this year, but the National Institutes of Health terminated it in June, saying the results would not be viewed as credible. Said one scientist: "This is not open-ended research. This is marketing research." So where does the field go now?
