St. Paul assistant principal suspended for having middle schooler handcuffed

Gene Ward Jr. was working at Battle Creek Middle School in January when someone stole students' cellphones from a locker room during a basketball game, according to a discipline letter given to the Pioneer Press in response to a public records request. The next day, Ward met in his office with a student thought to be involved in the theft.
