Contrasting public safety funding bills advance

In some ways, the House and Senate take opposite approaches to their supplemental judiciary and public safety finance bills, both of which moved forward last week. Both chambers' leaders offered the division's committee chairs just over $7 million each to fill in budget gaps to the end of the biennium-far less, for instance, than the $100 million the Legislature plans to spend on transportation.
