Rossi Earns More Than $2.5M For Indy 500 Win

INDIANAPOLIS (CBS13/AP) — Alexander Rossi earned $2,548,743 for winning the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
Rossi’s winnings included a $50,000 bonus from Sunoco for being the top rookie in the race. The overall purse for the 33 drivers was $13,273,253.
The Auburn-born Rossi stretched his fuel mileage for the final 90 miles to score an upset victory. He is the first rookie to win since Helio Castroneves and the first American-born rookie to win since Louis Meyer in 1928.
