PG&E Removing Modesto Trees As Part Of Plan To Prevent Next San Bruno Explosion

MODESTO (CBS13) — Pacific Gas & Electric is removing trees in Modesto as part of its prevention efforts following the deadly 2010 San Bruno pipeline explosion.
The utility says several gas lines run underneath tree roots, preventing easy access to gas lines by first responders.
“That would prevent first responders from being able to access those lines in the event of an emergency like an earthquake that may cause a break in the gas transmission lines,” he said.
