Former California Controller Candidate Faces $80,000 Campaign Fine
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – California’s political watchdog is threatening an $80,000 fine against a former state lawmaker for allegedly funneling money to his campaign through county Republican Party committees.
The Fair Political Practices Commission announced the proposed penalty against Tony Strickland on Monday.
The FPPC’s enforcement agency says Strickland directed people to launder campaign contributions through Republican Party committees in Stanislaus and Ventura countie
