Power Restored To Thousands In Pitcairn After 3 Transformers Fail

PITCAIRN (KDKA) — In the midst of frigid temperatures and subzero wind chills, thousands of customers lost power early Thursday morning in Pitcairn.
Three transformers blew around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Center Avenue. Nearly all of Pitcairn lost power. Approximately 3,000 people live in the borough.Crews from Duquesne Light arrived on the scene around 5:30 a.m. They were working with crews from Pitcairn Power.
Power was eventually restored around 9:30 a.m.
