"Early warning" school deficit package put on hold Wednesday

A proposed "early warning package" that could yet be passed in the Michigan Legislature's lame duck session, was put "on hold" Wednesday after amendments were proposed and before they could be taken up by the full House of Representatives The package of Senate bills would give the state Treasury authority to intervene with financially stressed school districts and charter schools to prevent them from going into deficit.
