2014: A cold start and a volatile year

In many respects, there was no place to go but up in 2014.When it came to temperatures, bone-chilling cold and falling snow greeted Michigan residents as the year began. And it went on and on and on, giving the state's occupants a rarely experienced winter and perhaps an unexpected kinship with the people of North Dakota.
