Jackson defeats Alcántara
Senator Marisol Alcántara, the incumbent in District 31, was defeated by challenger Robert Jackson in the primary election.
Jackson, a former City Councilmember, received 52 percent of the vote while Alcántara received 36 percent. Other challengers received votes were Tirso Pina (3 percent) and Thomas León (1 percent).
Alcántara, who became the only Latina in the State Senate when elected in 2016, is a former member of the Independent
