NYC to 'insource' IT work

New York City expects to save $3.6 million this year by using municipal employees to perform IT work. The city last month reached an agreement with its largest municipal union on a new "IT insourcing" deal. Citing the plan's supporting documents, it says city officials expect to improve service delivery and save $3.6 million this year by reducing reliance on outside tech consultants. Officials say that figure could potentially rise to about $100 million over five years.
