More church closures, mergers proposed

Come August, more churches within the Archdiocese of New York will likely have closed or merged. That number is reportedly higher than was announced last month.  Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York, is proposing merging 38 more parishes and closing 11, reported the NY Times. In November, officials had said that 112 of the 368 parishes that make up the archdiocese would be consolidated.
