MetroCard fare hike takes effect Sunday

Commuters who use Metropolitan Transportation Authority buses, subways, bridges, tunnels and the Long Island Rail Road and Metro North Rail Road will begin paying higher fares on Sunday, Mar. 22. The base fare of a single subway or bus ride will go up a quarter, from $2.50 to $2.75.
