Two houses wrecked in Schenectady fire

SCHENECTADY — One house was destroyed and another sustained critical damage after a Wednesday morning fire in Hamilton Hill that left at least nine adults and children homeless.Crystal Nolan, one of the displaced residents, said the fire began in her multi-unit Georgetta Dix Plaza dwelling around 8 a.m., when she was awakened by her 5-year-old niece. Nolan said her daughter, Skyelar Eriole, helped the five children in the house escape.
