For many professions – even those that may often find workers outside – when temperatures get dangerously cold, work is moved indoors as much as possible. But if duty calls – a water main breaks, sidewalks need to be shoveled, or ski lifts need to be operated – people working outside say the key is layers, hydration and frequent breaks.
