State unemployment drops to lowest level on record

ALBANY - The stock market may be in free fall, but New York just reported its best unemployment numbers since the summer of 1988.The state Department of Labor reported Thursday that the number of unemployed New Yorkers fell from 387,500 in October to 379,400 in November.That's the lowest number of unemployed workers since August of 1988, when Mario Cuomo was governor and Ronald Regan was president.
