New senate rules generate some pushback

ALBANY - Senate Democrats got to flex the power of their majority on Wednesday with the adoption of new operating rules for the chamber.The vast majority of the 34-page minutia-riddled framework for doing business in the state senate were proposed without causing a stir, but changes to thescope and composition of the ethics committee, the number of members on other committees,and staffing allocations generated objections from the Senate Republicans.
