Legislature considers easier access to ballot

ALBANY -Candidates for local office might have a lower threshold to qualify for the ballot this year.A change is being considered by state lawmakers in response to a new law moving up state and local primaries from September to June, which means candidates for town, city and county offices will have to start the process of collecting signatures to access to the ballot later this month, four months earlier than usual.
