Lawmaker decries delay in assisting furloughed workers
ALBANY - Delayed action by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo may have prevented thousands ofNew York families affected by the federal government shutdown from getting extra time to pay their local tax bill, according to Sen. Jim Skoufis.The Hudson Valley Democrat is faulting the governor for not acting sooner on legislation that would let municipalities accept late property tax payments from households with a federal worker who was furloughed or worked unpaid during the 35-day shutdown.
