Historical society asks Albany mayor to move Schuyler statue to his gravesite

The Colonie Historical Society has asked Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan to consider relocating a statue of Maj. Gen. Philip J. Schuyler from in front of City Hall, where it was erected in 1925, to his gravesite at the Albany Rural Cemetery.Sheehan recently announced that she had ordered the statue honoring the Revolutionary War hero to be removed from its prominent location due to Schuyler's ownership of slaves.
