Despite fewer home sales, brokers find reason to remain optimistic

Pending sales fell 6 percent, according to date from the Eastern New York Regional Multiple Listing Service. The average sale price rose 10 percent to $250,358, while the median price, at which half the homes sell for more and half for less, also rose 10 percent, to $217,000.
