Despite deadly 2018, Albany violent crimes numbers dip

ALBANY - In one of the deadliest years the capital city has seen in the last two decades, other violent crimes like assaults and robberies dropped in 2018 in comparison to the prior year.Fifteen people were killed in Albany last year, many of them by gunfire, yet the number of reported robberies and aggravated assaults in the city declined 15 percent and 4 percent respectively, according to Albany Police Department statistics for 2018. Rapes also dropped 4 percent, figures show.
