Cuomo proposes tougher penalties for violence against the media
ALBANY - Attacking a member of the media in New York could soon carry the same penalties as violence against New York City sanitation workers, registered nurses, school crossing guards and other protected professions.The proposal from Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, which was unveiled in his state budget earlier this month, would make it a class D felony to attack a journalist with the intent to do harm while they were working.
