Amtrak pulls back on Hudson River fencing plan

ALBANY — Amtrak is pulling back on plans to fence off portions of its rail tracks along the Hudson River in Rensselaer, Columbia and Dutchess counties.On Friday, the passenger rail line announced it was withdrawing its plans, which had drawn opposition from local governments and river advocates, under a joint agreement with the state departments of State and Transportation.Instead, Amtrak will revisit the issue as part of a "five-year corridor plan to improve safety along the Empire Servic
