St. Pius captures 5A football championship

St. Pius defeated Artesia 34-24 on Saturday for the Class 5A state football championship at Nusenda Community Stadium. It is the first state football title since 1999 for the Sartans. Check back here later and in Sunday’s Journal for more coverage.
