Berlin exploring possibility of using waste steam to keep downtown free of snow

It was among the first cities in New Hampshire to have electric street lamps and if all goes well, Berlin may find out whether it's also a candidate to have a steam-heated 'snowmelt' system that would eliminate the need for plowing, sanding, salting and shoveling of some municipal roads, sidewalks and parking lots.
