WIC program receives $200,000 grant
Nevada’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program has been awarded the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program grant.The $200,000 grant is designed to provide fresh, unprepared fruits and vegetables to WIC participants and promote area farmers’ markets.The grant begins in July and runs through October. It’s going to be used in Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Lyon, Mineral and Washoe counties, all of which have at least one farmers’ market near their WIC clinics.“
