Suspicious package at the Capitol Grounds shuts down Carson Street

Officers responded to calls of a possible suspicious package Sunday afternoon at the Capitol building.Nevada Highway Patrol received a call about 3:30 p.m. about a suspicious package near the entrance of the grounds. The caller reported a black backpack with significant weight was hidden under a bush on the Capitol grounds. The Tahoe-Douglas Explosive Ordnance Disposal responded around 4 p.m., and NHP and Carson City Sheriff’s Office shut down the roads around the Capitol on Carson Street
