Space X launches communications satellite but botches sea landing

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from Florida and thrust a communications satellite into orbit Friday, but the launch vehicle’s reusable main-stage booster was destroyed when it failed to land itself on an ocean platform, the company said.
