Maury corrections officer charged with child abuse

A Maury County corrections officer was arrested on child abuse charges on Tuesday by Columbia police.Detectives responded to Vanderbilt University Medical Center due to a report of suspicious injuries to a child that occurred in Columbia.The investigation determined that Michael Shane Riggins, 25, was responsible for the injuries to the 3-month-old child, which occurred on at least two different occasions.Riggins is a corrections officer at the Maury County jail.The child was in critic...
