Evacuations expand as wildfire in Mariposa County grows

Nearly 5,000 people have been forced to leave their homes due to the still-growing Mariposa County wildfire that's burned 45,724 acres Wednesday morning as flames continue to rage toward the town of Mariposa and prompting the evacuation of the town of Coulterville, Cal Fire said. Eight structures have already been destroyed and one was damaged since the flames broke out at 4 p.m. Sunday at Detwiler and Hunters Valley roads, about 2 miles east of Lake McClure.
