Coroner resigns, cites interference from San Joaquin County sheriff

A San Joaquin County coroner turned in her resignation Tuesday, claiming Sheriff Steve Moore interfered with death probes. Pathologist Susan Parson said Moore inserted himself into medical examinations and tried to control and influence the outcomes. Moore denied the claims, adding that as the sheriff-coroner, the law requires he make the final decision on a person’s manner of death.
